One kelp, one bottle
Aqua, Ecklonia maxima extract. Nothing else.
Ecklonia maxima is the giant kelp that grows off the Cape's west coast. We gather it by hand in the shallows and soak it cold, so the gel keeps what the kelp makes.
- AlginateThe gel itself. Dries to a thin film that holds water in your skin.
- FucoidanA kelp sugar that soothes.
- PhlorotanninsKelp's own antioxidants.
- Sea mineralsMagnesium, calcium, potassium. They help skin hold moisture.
Pour, rub, press
- Pour generouslyinto your palms.
- Rub your handstogether for a second.
- Press onto your faceand let it dry to a soft film.
Keep it in the fridge. There is no preservative, so it lives like fresh food. External use only. Try it on your inner arm first, and skip it if you react to seaweed or iodine.
Keep the bottle. Bring it back.
The amber bottle is yours to keep. When it's empty, bring it to the rocks and we fill it again with fresh gel.
Made by the people who swim in it
Ocean's Touch comes out of Kelp Klub, a group that swims among the kelp at Saunders Rocks every Thursday at 17:00. The gel started as something we made for ourselves after the swim.
